WE CLOSED!

For those of you who don't me, let me start by introducing myself.  My name is Megan. I am a mother to 4 little goofballs whom I adore (2 with 2 legs, 2 furry ones with 4 legs)!  I am married to a man that hates technology and likely won't be mentioned very much on this blog- but he exists.  There happens to be a lot of green and white in my life as Husband and I are both graduates of Michigan State University (GO GREEN)!  *side note- please, PLEASE don't confuse that with the other big university in that state.*  I have a terrible disease called DIY-itis.  If I can buy the supplies to do a task myself, I'll do it- or at least I'll attempt to.  Up until now, I would post pictures on my personal Facebook about what I was currently working on.  Those posts kind of took over and needed a home of their own.  This blog will be their new home.  I plan to chronicle my adventures and misfortunes with cooking, sewing, redoing our new house, gardening, and anything else I can find to fill my time.  I have a lot of hobbies.  Some are not as successful as others but if I learn something along the way, all is not considered lost.

Besides my family, my biggest project is redoing a house Husband and I bought at auction last week.  We actually bought in just over a month ago but it just closed Friday (FINALLY!!).  It has been a headache getting it to closing, but we made it and got our "clear to close" with 89 minutes to spare.  Stress can be healthy, right?  Our new house is in Fredericksburg, VA- we are now Southerners.  Anyone have a good family recipe for sweet tea??  The new abode is a spacious 2800 square feet on 4.5 acres.  It's zoned for agriculture so maybe I can talk Husband into some goats or turkeys.  The house was a custom build.  Whoever designed it did a wonderful job with layout!  However, over the last 20 years, the various owners have made some interesting choices in upgrades and decor.  My goal is to take the house back to the day it was built and redesign the interior from the ground up- new flooring, new paint, new trim, new kitchen, new closets, new siding, new windows, finished basement, new landscaping, redone decks, etc.  We have a lot of work ahead of us.  Oh, and the best part- we plan to do almost all of it ourselves.  Strap on your seat belts and enjoy the ride!  Hopefully you you get a few laughs and some new ideas.  Maybe I'll even inspire enough confidence in you to tackle some projects of your own!
